NPR - Missouri Outlaws Student-Teacher Facebook Friendship

1st Amendment issues not withstanding, this move assumes possibly a more private nature to social networking sites than actually exists.

Also, aren’t the parents and not the minor students the once who legally have the authority to permit or forbid communication between a minor child and a teacher and doesn’t this law infringe on that right.

North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program Get the Ax.

Jenny Bajorek, a fifth-grade teacher at Northwoods Elementary School in Cary, talks to student Sumera Ingram, left. Bajorek became a teacher via the Teaching Fellows Program, which gives scholarships to aspiring teachers

In a terribly myopic decision, the State of North Carolina has eliminated its popular and effective Teaching Fellows Program (and much of its professional development programs). We as a State are headed in reverse relative to our State’s rich past and the rest of the country’s highest-achieving states.”

Perfect, perfect summary from a college friend of mine.

I don’t want to be partisan about this but the Republican-controlled General Assembly is slowly chipping away at the future of NC.

“Divesting in the Future” should be their next campaign cry.
